FAQs

Why does my child need a coach?
I provide that extra support that is not taught in schools - life skills and awareness. Children become more aware of themselves and others, and realize that they have influence over how they feel, what they think, and how they react to life’s challenges. Through coaching, they also build healthy habits that will support them throughout their lives.
-
What outcomes can you anticipate?
Although your child’s needs will determine the outcomes, you may see positive changes in their motivation and stress level, in their self-esteem, and their relationships with themselves and others.
-
How long does it take to see positive results?
Changes don’t happen overnight. It is a process and because each child is different, it is hard to say exactly how long it will take. Minimum of 4 sessions are recommended to see results and consultation and parental support is essential.
-
What methodologies is my coaching based on?
It is based on neuroscience, cognitive behavioural science, positive psychology, mindfulness and resilience-based methodologies.
-
What is the difference between coaching and therapy?
Coaching is focused on goal setting and accomplishment for the future. It is a bridge between potential and performance. As a result, it is more goal focused, time-limited and solution-oriented. As opposed to counselling which is more about healing from the past. Therapist work with more complex mental health issues such as suicidal ideation, eating disorders, ticks, self-harm and traumas. Coaching is not appropiate for these aforementioned mental health issues.

How does coaching work?
The client sets up an introductory call on Calendly. In this call we get to know each other and establish if coaching is right for you or your child. If your child is undecided about coaching, I offer a free 15 min. call with him/her. These intro calls will give me an idea about what areas the client would like to focus on. In our first session I help the client set goals in a specific area and create a coaching program to get there. When other issues come up we focus on resolving them, this can mean changing the direction of our orginial coaching plan to meet the client’s need.
